Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort and Spa, Mauritius

This beautiful hotel is on the northwest coast of Mauritius, which according to the locals has the best climate on the island. When I visited, I could not help but be impressed with the setting. What’s not to love about 2km of white sandy beach? And all accommodations are set in 35 hectares of beautifully landscaped tropical gardens.

The well-appointed suites and villas are built in garden-facing crescents or located along the beachfront. Many have their own private pools and outside showers which we found to be an excellent asset after a day on the beach.

Although you can hear the pounding of the waves in the distance, the lagoon itself is peaceful and very safe to swim and snorkel in. Trou aux Biches ropes off an area so that children can play safely together. There are also kids clubs, teen clubs and baby care facilities to ensure everyone is catered for.

There are six restaurants including Thai, Italian, Indian, fish, buffet and à la carte dining. During my visit, I sampled the fish and I can honestly say it was the best I have ever tasted.

For the more adventurous, there is a wide range of complimentary land and water sports, including scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing, beach volleyball, tennis, table tennis and so much more.

For those seeking a more sedate lifestyle, the 17 massage cabins offering a wide range of therapies is not to be missed.

I quite enjoy a game of golf and having access to not one but two 18 hole par 72 courses, the Paradis and Mount Choisy, was a delight.

The staff at Trou aux Biches are dedicated to making your holiday special and do not disappoint.
