In October, I had the pleasure of exploring Hurghada with two girlfriends, and what a trip it was! From the bustling markets to the serene Red Sea, this Egyptian gem offers the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. Here’s a recap of our fabulous stay and the unforgettable experiences we enjoyed...
The Grand Resort Hurghada
We stayed at The Grand Resort Hurghada, located in the heart of Hurghada’s lively tourist area. The resort is just a 10-minute drive from Hurghada International Airport, making it a convenient choice for anyone looking to maximise their holiday time.
The Grand Resort is a stunning property with Moorish-inspired architecture, lush gardens and an array of sparkling pools. Although the resort doesn’t have its own beach, guests have access to a private sandy beach just across the road. It’s a quick and easy stroll to the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea, where loungers await for a day of relaxation.
The resort features spacious rooms with balconies overlooking the pools or gardens, and offers a truly indulgent dining experience. With a wide selection of à la carte restaurants, all included in the price, we enjoyed delicious meals every night, ranging from Mediterranean flavours to international cuisine.
The resort’s location is perfect for exploring Hurghada’s many attractions, whether it’s the shops and markets nearby or the famous marina.
Exploring Hurghada Marina
One highlight of our trip was a visit to the Hurghada Marina, a must-see spot both by day and night. During the day, the marina is a hub for boat excursions, offering a wide range of trips, from snorkelling adventures to private dolphin tours. It’s the perfect place to hop aboard and explore the Red Sea’s vibrant marine life.
By night, the marina transforms into a hive of activity, with an incredible atmosphere. The array of bars and restaurants caters to every taste, offering everything from fine dining to laid-back bites. It’s the perfect place to relax and soak up the buzz of Hurghada’s nightlife.
While there, we enjoyed a delicious seafood feast at a local restaurant where we personally selected our fish before it was freshly prepared. The flavours were incredible, and the setting by the water made it even more special.
We also visited Retro Bar, a quirky spot that felt like a blend of England and Egypt. It’s a great place to unwind with live music, and on Sundays, they host live performances that create an unforgettable atmosphere.
Adventures with Tourific Excursions
Our trip wasn’t just about relaxation – we craved adventure too! That’s where Tourific Excursions (spelled T-O-U-R-I-F-I-C!) and Mustapha came in, offering us two incredible private tours.
Quad biking in the desert
Our first excursion was a private quad biking tour through the desert. It was an exhilarating ride across golden sand dunes, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. Our guide not only ensured we were safe but also snapped some hilarious and memorable photos of us along the way.
A dolphin adventure on the Red Sea
Next, we set out on a private dolphin trip, gliding across the turquoise waters of the Red Sea in an RIB (rigid inflatable boat). While we only spotted one lonely dolphin, the experience itself was magical – the serenity of the sea and the thrill of the chase made it a day to remember.
