Dubai for the whole family

Once a small fishing village in the Arabian Gulf, Dubai is now known as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world; and with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, it can offer the perfect getaway for families.

The range of accommodation is vast with a huge choice of luxury hotels – it’s even home to the world’s only 7-star hotel! We know that not everyone has the budget for that though, and so there are many affordable options too, and even some budget hotels popping up, meaning that a holiday to Dubai doesn’t have to pull on the purse strings quite as much as you would expect.

Dubai is a destination for all seasons, with the weather often described as ‘hot’ and ‘hotter’! With toasty winters and very hot summers, many consider this a destination for the winter months, but head here in the summer and the indoor activities and aircon will ensure you still have a great time (and it’ll be kinder to the budget, too)

Whilst the sun is almost always shining – and yes, I know that you’ll fancy a few days by the pool (who wouldn’t?), there’s more to Dubai than meets the eye, and it has enough to keep even the most active family entertained for a good week or two.

Here are our top picks for families heading to Dubai…

Visit a waterpark

Dubai has some amazing waterparks, and Aquaventure, based at the Atlantis The Palm hotel is the world’s largest! With 79 slides and attractions, it’s a fun and jam-packed day out. From splash zones for the little ones to adrenaline rides for the teenagers, a day at Aquaventure is sure to be a big hit. For an extra treat, stop by The Cold Stone Creamery on the way out for an ice cream or a milkshake and watch the team throwing ice cream around cocktail style!

Visit the Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is a destination in itself! There’s ice skating, an aquarium, soft play, a haunted attraction, trampoline area and a VR park.

Plus, every 30 minutes from 6pm and 11pm, there’s an impressive dancing fountain show which is worth catching.

For a view of the dancing fountains from above, go to the Observation Deck at the Burj Khalifa.

Kite Beach

With its open stretches of soft white sand and warm, sloping water, Kite Beach is a fantastic spot for the whole family.

There’s an array of activities to keep everyone entertained, including kitesurfing, an inflatables water park and volleyball areas, plus you’ll be spoilt for choice at lunchtime - from cool beachside cafes to quirky vans, known as the Kite Beach Kiosks selling just about everything – you’ll not go hungry!

The Desert

It’s not often you get to experience sand dunes and the vast desert, so on a trip to Dubai it’s almost certainly a must-do.

Day trips are available and run every day, taking you and your family out in a 4x4.

Just seeing the desert will amaze you, but full day trips also include the opportunity to ride a camel and experience an authentic meal whilst watching an impressive dance show.
