Client Blog: A whirlwind week in Vegas!

Who says you can’t mix business with pleasure? Because that’s exactly what we did at the end of February 2019!

Las Vegas had always been on our bucket list of places to visit and the opportunity arose when we attended the Photobooth Expo, a four day business convention which was being held at the South Point Hotel, Nevada.

We had previously met Nikki and became friends (some years ago) through our mutual connections in the wedding industry and knew that she has worked as an independent travel consultant for many years, so who better to arrange our flights and hotel booking? Nikki of course!

Nikki saved us hours trawling through flight prices and as we already knew exactly where we wanted to stay it simplified the whole process - so the booking was made super simple and stress free. We were soon heading to The Entertainment Capital of the World!

Las Vegas really is jam packed with so much to do and see. We carefully planned our itinerary in the weeks leading up to our visit, so that we were able to fit everything in we wanted to do and see around the business convention.

Vegas is absolutely huge and we knew very well that we would only get to see a proportion of this immense city and what it had to offer its visitors.

We flew directly from Gatwick to McCarran International Airport via Virgin Atlantic. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by the complimentary transport service laid on by the hotel.

Having never visited before, we were absolutely aghast at the sheer size of everything in Vegas, from the hotels and roads to the size of the ice creams!

A definite ‘must do’, when visiting Vegas is to go and see a show, and there are so many to choose from. You really are spoilt for choice - there’s something for everyone!

Both of us being huge MJ fans, we pre-booked tickets for the Michael Jackson ONE Cirque du Soleil show, which was hosted at The Mandalay Bay Hotel. OMG, this didn’t disappoint in the slightest. It is truly world class - the very best show we’ve EVER attended. Absolutely an incredible experience!

You cannot visit Las Vegas without taking a helicopter ride meandering through the Grand Canyon, following the Colorado River and then flying over the Hoover Dam. There really are no words to describe the vastness and the beauty of these rock formations and the breath-taking scenery you will encounter.

We can highly recommend Sundance Helicopters, we pre-booked this. We were promptly picked up from our hotel by such a great chauffeur and driven by luxury stretch limousine to the helicopter base, where we were briefed about the day that lay ahead.

Our pilot was so friendly, knowledgeable and very informative about the history of the dam and the canyon and certainly made our experience in the air that extra bit special - one that we will never forget.

When in Vegas definitely make time to visit Fremont Street - it’s the older part of the city and is referred to as Downtown. Many sights and sounds captivate its audience; it’s a huge spectacle with a serious street party vibe!

If you’re a thrill seeker, brave enough and have a head for heights, take it all in by riding ‘super hero style’ the length of the street on the world’s largest zip line, the SlotZilla. We can highly recommend this!!

You’ll never go hungry in Vegas, with so many culinary delights to cater for every palette; the most difficult thing is actually choosing what you’re going to eat!

There’s everything from diners, burger bars and steak houses to upmarket expensive restaurants - it really depends on your budget. The portion sizes are enormous and with many hotels offering a buffet style all you can eat for a set price, you certainly won’t need to eat three meals a day - quite often the all you can eat breakfast kept us going all day long!

We both absolutely adore cheesecake and can’t recommend a stop off at The Cheesecake Factory enough. This place IS absolute heaven on a plate! Every conceivable flavoursome cheesecake is to be found here and it wasn’t too expensive either. This gem of a place is well tucked away at the back of Caesar’s Palace and took a little bit of finding - we even had to ask for directions - but it was absolutely worth every mouthful!

We found the most reasonable and quickest transport for running up and down The Strip were the Uber taxis - we simply downloaded the app. Every hotel has free WiFi and it made short work of getting from one end of The Strip to the other - it certainly saved our legs! The drivers were on time and friendly with clean and modern cars; and we had two drivers from England that had emigrated to Vegas, so we had plenty to chat about!

We absolutely loved Las Vegas. There’s so much more to this city than just its casinos and with so many exciting places still left to explore and sights to see we definitely need to go back for another visit please Nikki 😊
